Memories
On October 09,2007 many of Taylor's friends, acquaintances and classmates got together for about 2 hours and just reminisced about funny and special memories of Taylor. Here are some of those stories:
In his U101 class, Taylor suggested the class rule that all females in the class had to come with their legs shaven. Taylor's uncanny ability to spill almost anything was talked about. One friend said that 'the kid spilled everything!' One example was given when someone asked Taylor to pass them an open coke, and he threw it across the room. Needless to say there was a quite a mess after that! One young lady spoke about listening to Taylor rap and laughing until she cried. She said that his usual response when this happened was, 'Girls cry all the time around me' in a way that was quite flattering to himself. His best friends recounted all chipping in together to buy a particular video game. Taylor then went on his own and tried to sell it. It didn't sound like he was successful. People remembered his great academic advice. When talking to others about school, he would tell them, 'Don't worry about school. Just do what I do - wait 'til the last minute'. Young ladies on his floor said that there were always people coming and going from Taylor's room. Apparently it was quite the place to be! Milo and Miguel shared a story of Taylor being at their house and taking care of Abuela, their grandmother. She was sleeping in her chair and Taylor was in the other room playing video games. She was so quiet and still, he thought she had passed, but he went on paying video games! He was quite relieved to find that she had only been sleeping. 'Taylor loves arguing just for the sake of it'. Taylor loved his backpack and would compare it to a baby. When a friend left his backpack in their car, he got very upset. He asked, 'If I left my baby in the car, would you just leave it there?' When applying to college, Taylor applied to USC and Harvard. He said that he was going to come to USC regardless, but wanted to see if he could get in. If he did, his plan was to walk naked through campus with the words 'I got into HARVARD' painted on his person...he didn't get in. He thought he would, however, because he told friends that he had 'lied on my application'. In high school, Taylor played defense on the football team. Apparently he was quite proud of his near-sack, and would boast that he had 'touched the quarterback!' Everyone smiled when remembering some his ridiculous analogies. He had a habit of blaming his bald roommate for clogging the drain in their shared shower. In his fraternity, he ran for the philanthropy chair, which would coordinate all volunteer activities. His friends encouraged other frat members not to vote for him, knowing that Taylor wouldn't have wanted the job once winning it. Many young ladies present talked about Taylor's suave ways with women. One girl stated that one night at a party, she watched Taylor flirt with girl after girl. After a while, he came up to her and began flirting with her as well. She called him on his adventures, and his reply was, 'No matter what, I know you'll be my backup'. Another friend talked about Taylor's drive to learn things on his own. If he was presented with one side of a situation, he would relentlessly pursue the other to make sure that he had all the information before making a decision. Here are some general quotes about Taylor that stood out from his friends:
'The essence of life'
'He's a part of everything' .
'People say that when they lose a limb, they can still feel it - Taylor's definitely our phantom limb'
'He's the epitome of a teenage boy'
The overall theme of the gathering was that Taylor made such a mark on so many people. Two hours couldn't have possibly been enough to have expressed
all the love that was in the room that night.
:) my boy!
